Changing the way you see your doctor.

Telemedicine for all of Arizona

On this page, we answer your most common questions about telemedicine.

What is telemedicine?

Telemedicine is virtual healthcare conducted over a secure internet connection instead of in a doctor’s office or clinic. The patient and healthcare provider both use an internet-connected device that has a camera, speaker, and microphone, such as a laptop, tablet, or smartphone.

What conditions can be treated online with telemedicine?

Our certified nurse practitioners can safely and accurately diagnose most common illnesses through an online examination. This includes:

  • COVID-IgM/IgG 19 Rapid testing. Detection of COVID-19 IgM antibodies may indicate a recent exposure, whereas detection of COVID-19 IgG antibodies may indicate a later stage infection
  • Abrasions
  • Acne
  • Allergies
  • Bacterial vaginosis

How much does Active Wellness Health charge?

Active Wellness Health charges $59 per telehealth on-line service. At this time, we are only accepting self-pay, no insurance.

Is care billable under corporate or insurance accounts?

Not yet, but we’re adding this feature soon.

How do I get the medications Active Wellness Health prescribes?

Once you accept a prescription from one of our certified nurse practitioners, you may fill it at any area or online pharmacy. Nurse practitioners have full prescription authority in the state of Arizona via rapid care (also known as urgent care).

Is online healthcare safe?

Yes, telemedicine is safe, effective, and is changing the way we experience healthcare. Providers around the world – including nurse practitioners and medical doctors – are taking advantage of technology to treat patients remotely. And they’ve experienced tremendous success and patient satisfaction in the process.

Over half of medical diagnoses can be made without a hands-on physical examination. This includes cold and flu symptoms, ear and eye infections, skin conditions, and allergic reactions.

How does Active Wellness Health protect my privacy?

Active Wellness Health protects your personal and medical information with a comprehensive security infrastructure and HIPAA-compliant data protection. Your telemedicine consultation is conducted by an Arizona-certified nurse practitioner through a secure server. You also maintain full control and ownership over your personal health information (PHI) at all times. We are committed to protecting your privacy and will never share your information without your consent.

Is there anything a nurse practitioner cannot do during an online visit?

Yes, telemedicine is not meant for medical emergencies. If you believe you are experiencing a medical emergency, call 911 or go to the nearest emergency room.

Finally, our FNP-Cs cannot complete workplace safety, insurance, or disability forms via virtual visits, as these typically require a hands-on examination. If needed, we can supply a referral to a specialist.

Is there a system in place for emergencies?

Yes. If one of our nurse practitioners receives your request and determines it is a medical emergency, Active Wellness Health will notify you immediately. From there, you should either call 911 or go to the nearest emergency room. If you experience a medical emergency during your consultation, your nurse practitioner may call 911 on your behalf and/or reach out to the emergency contact you listed in your profile.
